What it's like to tour with us?

Hello photography lovers!
Due to the abundance of UTadventure curious people in our photography community, we get asked many questions about what it's really like to be on tour.
So here you go: your sample of the whole UTadventure experience in Utah with all the juicy details, from day one to the very last day.
Enjoy!!!
DAY 1
You fly into Salt Lake International Airport.
We ask you to arrive well before 12pm, (although many of our participants prefer to come the night before) so as to have plenty of time to check into your hotel (we got you covered for the short ride from the airport!), change, grab your gear and get picked up for the Meet and Greet lunch at our favorite cozy lunch spot in downtown Salt Lake City.
At lunch, while munching on gourmet sandwiches and sipping on handcrafted Utah beer, we go over our delicious tour program, introduce our models, take a few selfies and get to know you a bit.

Since we love to start with a BANG, we soon head over to the long awaited 1st shoot of the tour at - drum rollllll! - the famous Bonneville Salt Flats.
Bonneville is a perfect blank outdoor "studio" and an ideal place to get into the flow of things, get familiar with our muses’ modelling style, and overall, ignite your creative juices.
Oh, and meet your first epic sunset of the trip of course!
We then devour dinner from the nearby cafe and are soon on our way to catch those z’s.

DAY 2
Up bright and early (don’t forget to hit up your hotel breakfast!), we check out and hit the road towards our Southern Utah adventure!
(Just a note for coffee snobs among you: if the hotel java does not tickle your toes, have no fear! There is ALWAYS a cooler packed with gourmet coffee/tea selections in the back of the van, along with other treasures like beef jerky, trail mixes, and crackers, if you get the munchies.)
Prepare for some SERIOUSLY stunning views, tasteful music, long conversations (we love to get to know you!), and a lunch break in between. And, if you are quick to edit, you may even get to show off a few photos from the day before
After a short stop at the hotel to check in, get ready for your first taste of Southern Utah as we explore the most beautiful slot canyon, followed by a sunset at a majestic overlook. Prepare for those deep reds and pastel oranges hues your camera has been longing for, in addition to vistas for days and fabulous, dramatic skies.

Don’t forget to dig out any wardrobe or props you may have brought along.
If putting together a styled concept is not your thing, no worries, we got you: our models ALWAYS carry a bag filled with flowy, ethereal, unique clothing pieces that vibe well with the surroundings and help to create a story.
Just ask!
Everyone gets SO inspired by all the openness, fresh air, and the absence of a cell signal, that the atmosphere is saturated with unlimited creativity.
With our vehicles still bathing in the peaceful rosy hues of the setting sun, we head over to to indulge in a well deserved dinner.
Keep in mind that since Dmitriy and I are foodies, EVERY restaurant is carefully selected to keep you nourished, satiated and entertained with plenty of options and flavors.
Absolutely NO chain restaurants on this trip!

DAY 3
As usual, after your hotel breakfast, we are on our way to our AM shoot.
We take you to all the locations during the best possible light, so no need to worry about the weather being too hot or the light being too challenging. Just relax, kick back and shoot to your heart’s desire!
There may be a little hike to get to the juiciest spots at some locations, but you can often pretty much start shooting right away and still get great images! If you just want to hang back near the trailhead there will be a model ready to create with you - just ask!
We are ALWAYS mindful of your needs. (As long as you voice them of course!)

After a while, it is time to freshen up at your hotel before devouring your lunch at one of the unique little cafes.
Before long we head out to our evening shoot located on a seriously scenic private ranch complete with beautiful show horses.
The surrounding valley has been featured in several Western films and is in fact the actual, real West World! Prepare for more mind blowing landscapes, and a chance to shoot models on horseback, which is always a fun little challenge for everyone involved.
(For those of you not into horses, there are countless opportunities to photograph the landscape, with or without a model.)
.jpg)
Usually there’s at least one photographer in the group who takes off into the distance to explore, rejuvenate and have their "moment of zen" one on one with nature.
After such an intense day out on the fresh air comes the long awaited burger night, where everyone goes a little wild and ravenously wolfes down all that protein, paired with one of our award wining local micro brews. :)

Day 4
Time to enjoy a well deserved break from your intense adventures: this morning you get to sleep in, relax and maybe even edit some photos!
Around noon we are off to Moab to hit a few epic tourist spots before indulging in the culinary highlight of the whole trip - a gourmet quesadilla truck. Voted BEST meal on the tour, it is definitely deserving of it’s title!
Our group is then on our way to another exciting evening shoot. This one is entirely OPTIONAL and you are welcome to rest or spend the time editing photos instead.

By now the whole tour thing feels completely natural to you and life at home seems so far away!
At this point many of our participants start experimenting with their photography style and/or technique, inspired by the surroundings, models’ ideas or what other photographers are into, but mostly by the absence of stress, work/ family obligations and the hussle and bussle of everyday life.
Away from the routine, your perspective changes, which leads to unexpected discoveries in your creative flow. Or you may just enjoy the ride without giving it much thought, totally immersed in the moment, running around all dusty and sweaty, giggling like a little kid.
That happens too! A LOT. :)
After yet another beautiful sunset with more endless skies, more rock formations, more solitude (except for your small creative family of course), and more ART, we kick back and share some laughs, watching the stars come out while we enjoy a lovely picnic dinner in the open air.

Day 5
If our tour is a delicious photographic desert, today's location is the bright red cherry on top. Endless shooting opportunities present themselves around every corner in this immense slot canyon, everyone's FAV location!!
You’ll be all over it like a fat kid on a cake.
No exaggeration.
This is the location where at least one photographer gets overwhelmed and either starts swearing like a sailor or cries out of inspiration.
.jpg)
You think you’ll be able to behave yourself?
Think again!
Craig Colvin, an award winning fine art photographer, a proud veteran of multiple UTadventure tours and a featured instructor on some of our events, said he could spend A WEEK at this location alone and never get tired of shooting!
After several unsuccessful attempts to drag you out of the canyon, we shoot some more, and then again a bit more, and then finally load up the vehicle, which by now feels like a second home, in order to make it back to Salt Lake City by the evening.

Day 6
You exhilaratingly tired but you still want MORE!
So, early morning we go to the very last shoot of the trip, a hidden Utah gem on the shore of the dreamy Great Salt Lake, for a fun morning shoot featuring those beautiful reflections in the water.
There, we run around all sandy, giggle, and create more photo amazingness.
Afterwards, expect to be back to your hotel in Salt Lake City around 11am.
You are free to be on your way to the airport or, if your flight schedule allows, join us at the bittersweet Farewell Lunch where we do a tour recap, talk about our experiences, munch on gourmet comfort food and organic boozy shakes (Salted caramel! Yum!)
*We may or may not shed a few goodbye tears...

Whew!
Trying to squeeze SUCH an extensive experience into just a few paragraphs of text is not easy, but hopefully this helped give you a glimpse and answer most of your tour questions.
*Please keep in mind that our tour itinerary is subject to change, based on the time of the year and weather conditions! This is just an example of one of our adventures.
Anyhow, every tour is always an epic adventure! Dmitriy and I hope to UTadventure with you in Utah very soon! :)
